Release - Resource - Rise

Join OYA Retreats on our last in-person retreat of 2023!

This urban retreat is one of our most popular. You’re guaranteed to leave it feeling differently than when you arrived.

Instead of allowing others (family, friends, colleagues, society) to write your story, you have to own your own truth - past, present and future. To heal is to embody the wisdom that you don’t have to hustle to be worthy of love and joy. There is nothing required of you to do first, before you are deserving of peace.

What to expect

The half-day is designed across two parts.

The first session will create an environment, within which the group can hold, see and hear each other’s experiences, complexities and contradictions through journaling, yoga, somatics and interactive mindfulness practice.

The second session will give space to release that which no longer serves and unlock our capacity to be our full selves. We will close with a sound bath to allow the different emotions that have arisen over the course of the sessions to settle as we clearly envision our self-defined purpose and sense of belonging.

The sessions will be led by Stacie & Fatuma.

Retreat places are reserved for Black women and women of colour.

Course Date

This is an urban retreat and will complete in one day - 21st October.

We’re excited to be hosted again at She’s Lost Control, Valentine Road.

Have questions?

Want to ask us a question about this event? Take a look through the FAQs to find answers to common queries. You are welcomed to reach out to us via the contact form.

  • People who identify as Black women or women of colour.

  • Retreats are exclusive to Black women and women of colour to centre shared experiences.

  • No, not at all. We aren’t holding you to your abilities or knowledge. Retreats are intimate groups and that affords us, your tutors, guides, to support you throughout.

  • You must be all-in for the entire retreat. It’s not possible to only book single classes. We emphasise creating a space in which sisters can exchange and build trust. This atmosphere would not thrive as well, if guests were changing throughout the retreat.

  • SLC is a barrier-free venue. Please get in touch to discuss your specific needs.

  • You don’t have to be an advanced yoga practitioner at all. We welcome the humblest of beginners. We’ll provide different options to accommodate all levels.

  • This venue is fully equipped. It is not necessary to bring your own equipment. However, if you know that you feel most comfortable with your own props, please feel free to bring them.

  • No food will be offered on this urban retreat.

  • Please let us know as soon as possible if something prevents you from attending the retreat. If you need to cancel more than 30 days before the retreat start date, we will refund you 50% of the retreat costs. Within 30 days of the retreat, we will not be able to refund you unless we can find someone to take your position. In that case, you will receive a full refund minus the deposit of 50% within 30 days after the retreat has ended. No exchanges. Transfers possible. There are no refunds or exchanges for virtual and urban retreats. No exceptions. Transfers are available at the discretion of OYA Retreats.
