Release - Resource - Rise

Join OYA Retreats on our first in-person retreat in the UK since 2019!

We’ve heard the call from our community members that you are keen to meet in person again, and we’re ready to meet that call with this day of embodied practice.

While we have all been affected by the challenges of a global pandemic, daily trials of regular life never stopped. This retreat will give you the tools to reconnect with your body to support integrating all you have learned about yourself over the past 2 years and what that means for the path you want to continue to forge.

What to expect

The day is designed across two parts.

The morning sessions will support the group becoming familiar with one another through yoga, somatics and interactive mindfulness practice.

Lunch will be provided.

The afternoon sessions will give space to individual and collective grieving and healing. We will close with a Yoga Nidra practice to allow the different emotions that have arisen over the course of the day to settle as we clearly envision our self-defined purpose.

The sessions will be led by Jae and Stacie. Lunch and snacks will be prepared by Carla.

Retreat places are reserved for Black women and women of colour.

Course Date

This is an urban retreat and will complete in one day.

Location details will be provided to those who book their space. The retreat will take place at a private venue near London.

Have questions?

Want to ask us a question about this event? Take a look through the FAQs to find answers to common queries. You are welcomed to reach out to us via the contact form.

  • People who identify as Black women or women of colour.

  • Retreats are exclusive to Black women and women of colour to centre shared experiences.

  • No, not at all. We aren’t holding you to your abilities or knowledge. Retreats are intimate groups and that affords us, your tutors, guides, to support you throughout.

  • You must be all-in for the entire retreat. It’s not possible to only book single classes. We emphasise creating a space in which sisters can exchange and build trust. This atmosphere would not thrive as well, if guests were changing throughout the retreat.

  • Not all venues are 100% accessible. Please do get in touch so that we can find a solution together.

  • You don’t have to be an advanced yoga practitioner at all. We welcome the humblest of beginners. We’ll provide different options to accommodate all levels.

  • It’s best that you have your own equipment and your booking confirmation email will cover those specifics. We do have a limited amount of yoga mats and props so please let us know if you may struggle with this.

  • Putting good, nourishing food into our bodies during the retreat contributes to goodness coming out of us. Food is typically vegan and gluten-free, tea is available all day and alcohol is prohibited. If you have special dietary needs, please let us know in advance.

  • We will clarify this in the confirmation e-mail as it depends on the venue. But to make the most out of the retreat, it’s well worth going offline for the duration. A challenge, we know, but you will feel truly rested and committed to your peacefulness.

  • Please let us know as soon as possible if something prevents you from attending the retreat. If you need to cancel more than 30 days before the retreat start date, we will refund you 50% of the retreat costs. Within 30 days of the retreat, we will not be able to refund you unless we can find someone to take your position. In that case, you will receive a full refund minus the deposit of 50% within 30 days after the retreat has ended. No exchanges. Transfers possible. There are no refunds or exchanges for virtual and urban retreats. No exceptions. Transfers are available at the discretion of OYA Retreats.
