International Women’s Day 2024
Join OYA Retreats for this community event!
This urban retreat is in celebration of International Women’s Day 2024!
The campaign theme for International Women's Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion. As stated on the official IWD website: “When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. Collectively, let's forge a more inclusive world for women.”
What to expect
The event is designed with our community in mind.
At OYA Retreats we envision a world in which everyone has the right to be well. Our definition of wellbeing is holistic. We want all people to be well in their bodies, minds and spirits. Our vision of wellbeing is not limited by notions of ability, oppression or monetary wealth. Our understanding of wellbeing allows room for each person to define for themselves what needs must be met in order to be well, as long as those needs do not restrict the wellbeing of our fellow humans.
While such a vision may appear far out of reach at this time of upheaval, we continue to create spaces in which the caregivers of the world can prioritise their own wellbeing, so that they may continue to have the capacity to care for others.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, we would like to offer a space to move, to be still and to ‘break cake’ with women who share similar experiences and sometimes need reminding that they’re not in this alone.
This is a community event. Below you can secure your space for a small donation. As spaces are limited, please only book if you are certain you will attend.
Retreat places are reserved for Black women and women of colour.
Course Date
This is an urban retreat and will complete in one day - 8th March.
We’re excited to be hosted again at She’s Lost Control, Valentine Road.

People who identify as Black women or women of colour.
-
Retreats are exclusive to Black women and women of colour to centre shared experiences.
-
No, not at all. We aren’t holding you to your abilities or knowledge. Retreats are intimate groups and that affords us, your tutors, guides, to support you throughout.
-
You must be all-in for the entire retreat. It’s not possible to only book single classes. We emphasise creating a space in which sisters can exchange and build trust. This atmosphere would not thrive as well, if guests were changing throughout the retreat.
-
SLC is a barrier-free venue. Please get in touch to discuss your specific needs.
-
You don’t have to be an advanced yoga practitioner at all. We welcome the humblest of beginners. We’ll provide different options to accommodate all levels.
-
This venue is fully equipped. It is not necessary to bring your own equipment. However, if you know that you feel most comfortable with your own props, please feel free to bring them.
-
A few snacks will be offered for the group to ‘break bread’ with in fellowship.
