Awaken the Sacred Goddess

  • REESET Can Pingüino, Camí dels Oms, s/n, Campos Spain (map)

Join OYA Retreats for a week of connecting with like-minded women while turning the gaze inward to tap into the healing and transformative power of Ọya.

Embodying what’s sacred

OYA Retreats is named after the Orisha of wind, violent storms and change. The meaning associated with these natural occurrences might differ across wisdom and faith traditions, but there is one thing they share - their transformative power.

A goddess, or female deity, shows up in many different forms across cultures and traditions. For some, the word may be a comfort. For others, the word may feel entirely foreign or plagued with negative connotations. On this retreat, we want to offer a space in which each guest can explore their inner goddess.

Goddess of ::: love, sacrifice, fertility, life, vengeance, achievement, community, creativity, strategy, wisdom, fate, death, justice, power and so much more. Instead of trying to define ourselves as just one or two things, can we open our hearts, minds and bodies to the multiplicity and complexity that is the fullness of our being.

Go on a journey - in collective care - that reinvigorates parts of you that may have been neglected, left behind, forgotten or even banned. What becomes possible when shining light on the shadows? What does it feel like in your body to allow different parts of you to come together as one? Where is there space for joy and pleasure?

We will explore these questions and more in a variety of ways:

  • Movement, somatics and yoga - 2x/day

  • Meditation and mindfulness practice - 2x/day

  • Workshops to awaken the sacred goddess - 1x/day

  • Sound bath journeys to attune to your vibrations - 3 sessions

  • Guided hike to explore the local area - 1 session

  • Plenty of free/me/we/she time to do what your heart desires, incl. not doing anything at all!

The exact retreat schedule will be provided to confirmed guests two weeks before the retreat.

Retreat places are reserved for Black women and women of colour.

  • The venue is located in El Palmer, Ses Salines, España/Spain (Mallorca) and is for exclusive use of OYA guests for the week.

The venue is a Mallorcan Finca and restored Windmill House that features accommodations with a mix of twins, doubles and a dormitory.

It is a lovely 20-minute bike ride from the most beautiful white sands beach, Es Trenc.

  • Surrounded by fields and green spaces.

The closest (only) airport is Palma de Mallorca (PMI) and the transfer from the airport is approximately 45/50 minutes.

  • The retreat will be privately catered by professionally trained pastry chef, Aisha Nash, to the most delicious standard. Three meals per day - breakfast, lunch and dinner - are offered and included in the retreat price.

All meals are vegan and gluten-free. You can expect a fusion of cuisines inspired by our local surroundings and the fruit and vegetables in season as well as informed by the global communities we cultivate across Africa, Europe and North America.

Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements or food allergies beyond what is listed here.

Have questions?

Want to ask us a question about this event? Take a look through the FAQs to find answers to common queries. You are welcomed to reach out to us via the contact form.

  • People who identify as Black women or women of colour.

  • Retreats are exclusive to Black women and women of colour to centre shared experiences.

  • No, not at all. We aren’t holding you to your abilities or knowledge. Retreats are intimate groups and that affords us, your tutors, guides, to support you throughout.

  • You must be all-in for the entire retreat. It’s not possible to only book single classes. We emphasise creating a space in which Sisters can exchange and build trust. This atmosphere would not thrive as well, if guests were changing throughout the retreat.

  • Not all venues are 100% accessible. This venue is not barrier-free. Please do get in touch so that we can find a solution together.

  • You don’t have to be an advanced yoga practitioner at all. We welcome the humblest of beginners. We’ll provide different options to accommodate all levels.

  • The venue is able to provide all yoga props and equipment to our guests.

  • Putting good, nourishing food into our bodies during the retreat contributes to goodness coming out of us. Food is typically vegan and gluten-free, tea is available all day and alcohol is prohibited. If you have special dietary needs, please let us know in advance.

  • The venue provides bath towels but not pool towels. Toiletries included are shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. If you have any allergies, we recommend you bring your own products.

  • We will clarify this in the confirmation e-mail as it depends on the venue. But to make the most out of the retreat, it’s well worth going offline for the duration. A challenge, we know, but you will feel truly rested and committed to your peacefulness.

  • Please let us know as soon as possible if something prevents you from attending the retreat. If you need to cancel more than 30 days before the retreat start date, we will refund you 50% of the retreat costs. Within 30 days of the retreat, we will not be able to refund you unless we can find someone to take your position. In that case, you will receive a full refund minus the deposit of 50% within 30 days after the retreat has ended. No exchanges. Transfers possible. There are no refunds or exchanges for virtual and urban retreats. No exceptions. Transfers are available at the discretion of OYA Retreats.
