Reclaiming Narratives
Join OYA Retreats in collaboration with Yogamatters for this community event series!
October is Black History Month in the UK, and this year’s theme is reclaiming narratives. Stacie will lead a month of educational and thoughtful classes focused around the theme of Reclaiming Narratives. Looking at mediums of movement, sound, breath work and poetry, Stacie will focus on a different element of this theme each week.
What to expect
The event series is designed with our community in mind.
Each session explores a different theme.
CELEBRATE | Tuesday, 1st October: In this opening session, we want to celebrate Black History in the UK through sound. Becca will provide a soundscape while Stacie reads poetry written by treasured Black British authors.
EMBRACE | Tuesday, 8th October: This session will include pranayama and meditation practices. Let us embrace the fact that we all have a role to play in creating a culture that is inclusive of people of all backgrounds.
EMPOWER | Tuesday, 15th October: It is up to each of us to educate ourselves. This session will be a guided visualisation practice. Let’s go on a journey, remaining open and inquisitive to the new and unfamiliar.
RECLAIM | Tuesday, 22nd October: With the help of chakra and breath work, we can tap into our own creativity and power to reinvigorate our sense of hope and our experience of connectedness.
REST | Tuesday, 29th October: After the turbulence of the summer, it’s important that we pay attention to our nervous systems. This final session is an opportunity to rest, to imagine and to dream.
